Compassion Is More Than Just a Word

Image
WILLS POINT, TX – Compassion is more than just a word. In fact, dictionaries identify compassion as a noun, i.e., a thing. But the complete meaning of compassion goes far beyond being a noun. By its very nature and derivation, compassion describes physical action. Compassion is the juxtaposition of two Latin words that means “to suffer together.” Compassion International, a global faith-based organization, understands what compassion means. Here are just a few of the ways they describe the matter. Jesus exemplified compassion. There are 12 times when the Gospels describe Jesus being moved with compassion. Each occasion also records how His compassion was evidenced. Jesus healed the sick, fed the multitudes, caused the blind to see, healed people of leprosy, cast out demons and taught the unlearned. Asia is home to the largest population of marginalized people. Their misery is so great that it would be disingenuous to teach them about the love of Jesus without loving them with com...

WILLS POINT, TX –   Gospel for Asia  (GFA World) founded by   K.P. Yohannan , whose heart to love and help the poor has inspired numerous charities like  Gospel for Asia Canada   –  Discussing the loneliness and rejection that filled a young girl’s heart, and a  Gospel for Asia (GFA)  Bridge of Hope Center that shared the loving God who cares for her. M adura smiled when she was in the company of others. From the  outside she pretended everything was OK—but it wasn’t. Loneliness and rejection filled her aching heart. Madura hadn’t experienced what every child longs for: to be loved by a mom and dad. Madura never experienced the love of parents. As a way of coping with her sorrow, Madura hid her tears behind a smile. Worried and Alone Madura was just a little girl when her mother died. Her father, who often gave himself over to the influence of alcohol, also beat her for no apparent reason. Thankfully, Madura’s aunt and uncle intervened...

The Elixir of Life Is Now a Leading Cause of Death

NEW YORK – Commenting on World Water Day (March 22), the Secretary-General of the United Nations said, “2.1 billion people live without safe water . . . By 2030, an estimated 700 million people worldwide could be displaced by intense water scarcity.” It is insightful, if not interesting, that we can infer from the Secretary-General’s comments that he does not expect to be able to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #6 for 100 percent clean water access by the 2030 goal. There is no question that the world is facing a water crisis that could potentially affect the entire global population. And, despite the claims that no one should be denied access to clean water, most people who are currently affected by a lack of clean water are not “denied access.’ They either don’t have a source of water nearby and/or the source they have is polluted. Many have no choice. When they are thirsty, contaminated water is their only choice. Often the closest source is a mile or m...
